The weather in northern Taiwan is set to be affected by two significant weather fronts this week. According to the Central Weather Bureau, residents should prepare for heavy rain and thunderstorms on May 4 and 5. The forecast includes local downpours in various areas, particularly in northern Taiwan.
Weather Forecast for Northern Taiwan
This week, the weather will be influenced by a frontal system, the South China Sea cloud rain zone, and the northeast monsoon. The Central Weather Bureau warns of possible heavy rainfall in the northern parts of the island, with thunderstorms expected on both May 4 and 5. Following this period, there will be a brief reduction in rain.

Temperature Expectations
Daytime temperatures in northern Taiwan will drop to between 22°C and 25°C due to rainfall and the northeast monsoon’s influence. Conversely, central and southern Taiwan may still experience highs above 30°C. As nighttime approaches, temperatures will cool further, with lows of 18-19°C in the north and 20°C in the central region.

- May 6: Highs of around 27-28°C in the north; over 30°C in the south.
- May 7: All areas expected to exceed 30°C.
- May 10: Slight decrease in high temperatures in the north, dropping to approximately 26-27°C.
Additionally, visibility may be affected in the Matsu area due to low clouds and local fog from May 6 evening until the early hours of May 8.
