Celebrity Golfers Join Drive Fore Kids Tournament

The Drive Fore Kids charity golf tournament is set to take place from June 25-28 at the Falmouth Country Club. This year’s event marks the fourth edition of the fundraiser, featuring an impressive lineup of athletes and celebrities. The proceeds will benefit the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and The Dempsey Center, founded by actor Patrick Dempsey.
Celebrity Lineup for Drive Fore Kids Tournament
The tournament has confirmed 38 participants, the largest field to date. This year, five new celebrities will join, including:
- Ollie Wright – Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder and leading goal scorer.
- Cam Little – Kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- Sean Malto – Professional skateboarder.
- Payton Pritchard – Boston Celtics guard.
- Seth Wescott – Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder and Maine native.
Returning stars include NFL Hall of Famers Jerome Bettis, Ronde Barber, Dwight Freeney, and Sterling Sharpe. Also participating are Red Sox World Series champions Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, and Keith Foulke, along with former NBA superstar Vince Carter.
Previous Success and Community Impact
The tournament has seen significant growth since its inception. Last year, it raised $210,000, a notable increase from the inaugural event’s $108,000. Shamrock Sports and Entertainment CEO Brian Corcoran expects even greater participation this year, projecting around 12,000 spectators over the three-day tournament.
Corcoran has highlighted the importance of local support, stating that over 80% of the audience and sponsor base at Falmouth Country Club is locally connected. The addition of well-known local figures like Dempsey and Wright will further attract Maine fans.
Expectations for Participants
Wright expressed excitement about joining the tournament but remains modest about his golfing skills. “I play often but haven’t improved much,” he noted. He aims to practice in the coming months to enhance his performance.
Actors and athletes involved in the Drive Fore Kids tournament convey a strong commitment to the community, especially Dempsey, who cherishes returning to his roots while supporting important causes. As this year’s tournament approaches, the anticipation continues to build within the community and among sports fans alike.
