Overview of “Oh, Mary!”

The comedy focuses on Mary Todd Lincoln during the tumultuous weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Escola presents a unique interpretation, depicting Mary Todd as a madcap, cabaret-loving alcoholic.

“Oh, Mary!” originally premiered at Off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre in 2024 and was extended multiple times due to its popularity. The play later made its Broadway debut in the summer of 2024, breaking box-office records at the Lyceum Theatre. It became the first production in the theatre’s 121-year history to achieve over $1 million in revenue in a single week.

Award-Winning Production

The show garnered two Tony Awards in 2025:

  • Lead Actor in a Play for Escola
  • Director of a Play for Sam Pinkleton

Pinkleton, who directed the original Broadway version, has also returned to lead the West End transfer. His creative team includes scenic designer dots, costume designer Holly Pierson, and lighting designer Cha See, among others.
