The United Football League (UFL) has announced an exciting expansion for the 2026 season. This growth includes the introduction of three new franchises and updated team names to enhance the overall experience for fans.
Expansion of the United Football League for 2026
Starting in the spring of 2026, the UFL will welcome new teams in Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Orlando, Florida. These new franchises are designed to strengthen the league and promote football in these vibrant cities.
New Teams and Locations
- Columbus Aviators – Historic Crew Stadium, Columbus, Ohio
- Louisville Kings – Lynn Family Stadium, Louisville, Kentucky
- Orlando Storm – Inter&Co Stadium, Orlando, Florida
These venues are known for creating enjoyable gameday atmospheres, suited for fans and players alike. The league aims to establish deep roots in these communities.
Rebranding of Legacy Teams
In addition to the new teams, the UFL will undergo rebranding for two existing teams:
- Dallas Renegades – formerly known as Arlington Renegades; will play at Toyota Stadium.
- Houston Gamblers – formerly known as Houston Roughnecks; will play at Shell Energy Stadium.
This rebranding reflects a strategic shift to better connect with local fanbases and honor historical team identities.
Leadership and Strategic Direction
Mike Repole, who took ownership of the UFL in July 2025, is dedicated to pushing the league’s growth. He is joined by key partners, including FOX, ESPN, and prominent personalities like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Repole emphasizes that this upcoming season signifies new opportunities and renewed energy for the league.
New Format and Upcoming Season
Beginning in 2026, the UFL will revise its competitive structure. The teams will no longer be divided into conferences, transforming the league into a united eight-team format. The top four teams will qualify for playoffs. The complete 43-game schedule for the season will be revealed soon, with the kickoff set for March 27, 2026.
Season Tickets and Fan Engagement
Season ticket deposits are now available for the new franchises, as well as for the rebranded teams in existing markets. Fans interested in attending games can secure their tickets through the UFL’s official channels.
The 2026 season promises to bring thrilling football action, engaging fans in an authentic sports atmosphere across the new and rebranded teams. Stay tuned for more updates as the kickoff date approaches.
