HHSAA State Championships Limit Parking at Hookipa

The inaugural Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) Surfing State Championships are set to take place this weekend at Hookipa Beach Park, Maui. This event will showcase the talent of student surfers and bodyboarders from across the state.
Transportation and Parking Information
For spectators planning to attend, it is essential to note that parking at Hookipa Beach Park will be unavailable. The park will be closed for competition use starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday and will remain closed until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
- Shuttle Service: Free shuttle services will operate from a designated parking lot along Holomua Road.
- Shuttle Schedule: Shuttles will run from 6 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, providing transportation to and from the park.

The surfing heats will commence at 7 a.m. on both competition days. The action is slated to wrap up at:

- 2:30 p.m. on Saturday

This year’s HHSAA Surfing State Championships features:
- 174 athletes competing in various divisions.
- Teams from 36 boys’ high schools and 27 girls’ high schools participating.

Each high school league in Hawaii is represented, with the event set to crown champions for both boys and girls in team and individual categories.
