Scotland Wildfire Alert as Fires Blaze in Aberdeenshire, Powys, Mourne Mountains

In recent days, wildfires have erupted across various regions of the UK, prompting significant firefighting efforts. Notable areas affected include Aberdeenshire, Powys, and the Mourne Mountains.

Scotland Wildfire Alert: Aberdeenshire Fires

This week, a wildfire ignited near Rosehearty in Aberdeenshire. The blaze, fueled by gorse, required the assistance of four fire appliances to contain it. Firefighters are actively engaged in controlling the situation.

Wildfire Efforts in Wales

In Powys, Wales, firefighters have been combating blazes in the Elan Valley area since Sunday. The situation remains critical, as Natural Resources Wales (NRW) reported a high risk to natural environments. A helicopter has been deployed to aid in firefighting efforts by dropping water on the fires.

Northern Ireland Fire Response

Simultaneously, Northern Ireland is also experiencing wildfire outbreaks. Since the weekend, 95 firefighters have been on duty in the Mourne Mountains, tackling significant fires. Additionally, 45 firefighters have addressed gorse fires in Loughermore Forest.

The Northern Ireland Fire Service has reported various smaller wildfires emerging in other locations, including:

  • Belfast
  • Armagh
  • Lurgan
  • Rathfriland

With no significant rainfall forecasted in the immediate future, the risks associated with these wildfires are anticipated to persist. Fire crews across all affected regions continue to work diligently to mitigate the threats posed by these blazes.
