Rain and Snow Expected in Some Areas After Pleasant Weather

Quebec is preparing for a dramatic weather shift over the upcoming days. Following a stretch of pleasant, warm weather, the province is forecasted to experience rain and colder temperatures. Meteorologist Simon Legault from Environment Canada advises residents to bring out their warmer clothing again.
Weather Forecast for Quebec
Starting Wednesday, the sunny days will come to an end. Residents can expect a wet and cooler spell, with temperatures dropping below seasonal averages. This forecast is expected to continue through the end of the week.
Temperature Outlook
- Montréal: Afternoon temperatures will range from 9°C to 12°C.
- Québec City: Expect similar conditions, with temperatures between 7°C and 11°C.
Legault notes that some areas may experience particularly cold weather, marking the lingering effects of late spring across certain regions.
Rain and Snowfall Predictions
Significant precipitation is expected in various parts of the province. Regions anticipated to receive rainfall include:
- Outaouais
- Laurentides
- Lanaudière
- Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
- South Gaspésie
Forecasts suggest that some locations could see 5 to 15 mm of rain, while others may receive between 30 and 60 mm. Notably, Charlevoix could witness upwards of 80 mm.
Additionally, snow is expected at higher elevations, including areas such as:
- Laurentians Park
- Certain parts of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
- Chibougamau
However, regions south of the St. Lawrence River are likely to remain largely unaffected by snowfall.
Impact of Elevated Temperatures
Legault explained that the warmer temperatures from recent days have increased snowmelt. Consequently, the incoming rain will contribute to rising river levels.
Looking Ahead
The meteorologist cautions that warm weather will not return next week. The region is entering a period of gloomy weather, and residents should make the most of the remaining sunshine on Tuesday. After that, the pleasant weather is unlikely to return for at least a week.
