Massive Police Raid Targets Hells Angels in NRW

In a significant crackdown against the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, over 1,200 police officers carried out a massive raid across North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The operation involved around 100 heavily armed special forces, trained dogs, and armored vehicles.

Details of the Massive Police Raid

The raids commenced at 4 AM, targeting more than 50 locations including major cities such as Leverkusen, Cologne, and Dortmund. Additionally, the operation reached areas such as Monheim am Rhein, Solingen, Duisburg, and several others.

  • Locations involved: Hilden, Bielefeld, Bochum, Gummersbach, and Velbert.
  • Target: Hells Angels Motorcycle Club facilities and associated residences and businesses.

Historical Significance of the Operation

This operation marks one of the largest efforts to combat biker-related crime in NRW’s history. The police have dismantled the “Hells Angels Motorcycle Club Leverkusen,” which has now been officially banned and dissolved.

Reasons Behind the Raids

The raids stemmed from a comprehensive investigation led by the Düsseldorf Police Headquarters. The focus was on suspected criminal activity linked to the organization and membership in a criminal syndicate.

  • Recent incidents: There have been multiple assassination attempts linked to biker conflicts in the Cologne area.
  • Growth: The number of Hells Angels members in NRW doubled last year, now totaling 317.

This surge was largely attributed to former members of the Bandidos motorcycle gang joining the Hells Angels. The substantial police operation underscores the ongoing challenge law enforcement faces in addressing organized crime in Germany.
