Earth Week: Live Nation Canada Celebrates Sustainability Milestones at Rogers Stadium

Live Nation Canada is celebrating Earth Week by showcasing significant sustainability milestones at Rogers Stadium. The company is focused on reducing waste, minimizing single-use plastics, and promoting its global initiative known as Green Nation.
Sustainability Practices at Rogers Stadium
The ongoing efforts at Rogers Stadium are strengthened by collaborations with partners such as Liberty Oak View Group, who manage food and beverage services. Their role has been crucial in implementing sustainable practices at the venue.
Innovative Waste Management Solutions
Last season, Live Nation partnered with Impact Cleaning to enhance waste management strategies. A dedicated team operates around the clock to sort and divert waste, achieving a 65% diversion rate from landfills. The goal for the 2026 season is to increase this rate to 70%.
Reducing Single-Use Plastics
Significant progress has been made in decreasing reliance on single-use plastics. The venue has replaced traditional plastic items with compostable utensils, paper cups, and canned water options. Plant-based disposable cups have successfully prevented the use of over 550,000 single-use plastic water bottles.
Collaborative Initiatives for Greater Impact
- Draft Top can cutters have further minimized the need for over 320,000 additional cups.
- Partnership with Go Zero enabled the recycling of 1,800 lbs of non-recyclable materials.
- A reusable cup program with Muuse during four Coldplay shows circulated over 114,000 cups, diverting 7,100 lbs of waste.
- This initiative also helped avoid nearly 14,000 kg of CO₂ emissions.
Greener Solutions for Fans
To further reduce plastic waste during events, Live Nation collaborated with GreenGear to offer fully compostable ponchos. Additionally, the stadium has begun utilizing sustainable hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel to decrease greenhouse gas emissions in its operations.
Refillable Water Stations
Over 30 refillable water stations are available throughout the venue, supported by Event Water Solutions, Oland, and Brita. These stations have contributed to saving an estimated 650,000 single-use plastic bottles.
Live Nation Canada remains committed to its Green Nation objectives. The ongoing initiatives at Rogers Stadium exemplify the company’s dedication to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainability.
