Ngidi Stable After Hospitalization for Head Injury

Lungi Ngidi, the fast bowler for Delhi Capitals, was hospitalized following a head injury during a recent match against Punjab Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The incident occurred when Ngidi attempted to catch a ball from PBKS opener Priyansh Arya but fell backwards, hitting his head on the ground.
Immediately after the fall, Ngidi clutched the back of his head in pain and remained on the field as medical personnel attended to him. A significant stoppage ensued as doctors stabilized his condition. Ngidi’s neck and head were secured with a brace before he was transported via stretcher to the hospital for further evaluation.
Ngidi’s Condition Post-Injury
After about an hour, the Indian Premier League (IPL) confirmed via social media that Ngidi was in stable condition and expected to be discharged soon. In his absence, Delhi Capitals named legspinner Vipraj Nigam as the concussion substitute, allowing him to bowl in Ngidi’s place.
Match Highlights
The injury occurred during the third over of the match, before Ngidi had the chance to bowl. Delhi Capitals had set a formidable target of 264 runs, primarily due to an extraordinary unbeaten innings of 152 runs from KL Rahul. However, Punjab Kings executed a remarkable chase, reaching the target with seven balls remaining. This victory marked the highest successful chase in IPL history.
Current Standings
Despite the thrilling match, the standings remained unchanged. Delhi Capitals holds the sixth position with three wins from seven matches, while Punjab Kings leads the points table with six wins and one no-result in their seven encounters.
