Miami Grand Prix Extends FP1 Session to 90 Minutes

The upcoming Miami Grand Prix will feature an extended Free Practice 1 session, allowing teams additional time on the track. This session has been pushed to 90 minutes to help teams adjust after a five-week break in the season.
Details of the Extended Free Practice Session
The extended Free Practice 1 is set for May 1-3, running from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM local time. Consequently, all prior track sessions will shift forward by 30 minutes to accommodate this change.
Reasons for the Extension
The FIA announced the extension citing several factors:
- Significant gap since the last Grand Prix
- Newly introduced regulatory and technical changes
- The Miami Grand Prix’s unique Sprint format limits practice time
Event Schedule Overview
Despite the changes to Free Practice 1, the overall schedule remains unchanged. Key timings are as follows:
- Sprint Qualifying: Scheduled for 4:30 PM on Friday
- Second Sprint Event: Taking place at 12:00 PM on Saturday
This adjustment provides teams valuable track time, enhancing preparations for the season’s ongoing challenges.
