The 2026 TCS London Marathon is set to feature an exciting lineup of official pace groups. These groups will play a crucial role in guiding elite runners through the race, aiming for specific halfway targets to help achieve record-setting times.

Elite Men’s Field and Pacemaker Groups

  • First Group: This elite section will include last year’s top finishers, Sabastian Sawe from Kenya and Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda. Their target is to reach the halfway point in 60:30 minutes.
  • Course Records: Achieving this time could place them within striking distance of the current course record of 2:01:25 set by Kelvin Kiptum in 2023, and the world record of 2:00:35.
  • Pacemakers: Leading the first group will be notable pacers including Oscar Chelimo, brother of Jacob Kiplimo, and Andrea Kiptoo, Sawe’s training partner. Nibret Melak from Ethiopia is also set to pace this group.

Additional Groups and Targets

  • Second Group: Comprising prominent runners such as Amanal Petros from Germany and Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda, this group aims for a halfway mark of 61:45 minutes.
  • Third Group: British athletes Patrick Dever, Phil Sesemann, and Mahamed Mahamed will target 63:15 minutes for the half-marathon distance. This group will also feature Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee as a pacemaker.
  • Further Groups: There are three additional pace groups with targets of 64:15, 65:00, and 67:00 minutes.

The strategic placement of these pace groups aims to enhance the competitive atmosphere of the 2026 TCS London Marathon, offering both elite runners and fans an unforgettable experience.
