Monic Néron Discusses Long-Distance Relationship with Bruno Marchand

Monic Néron is set to take over the afternoon radio slot on ICI Première this August. She will replace Annie Desrochers in the weekday slot from 15:00 to 18:00, a transition announced by Radio-Canada on April 13. Néron expressed her surprise and excitement during the announcement. She stated, “I was thrilled to accept this incredible offer, a dream come true.” Currently, she hosts the morning show Mimosa! on Saturdays from 07:00 to 11:00.
Plans for Her New Afternoon Show
Néron is gearing up to create a new afternoon show, which currently lacks a title. She has years of experience, having started her radio career at 16. Her previous experience includes six years working weekdays at 98.5 FM with Paul Arcand. This background gives her confidence that she can manage the demands of a daily show.
- New show starts: August 17
- Weekday slot: Monday to Friday, 15:00 to 18:00
- Current show: Mimosa! on Saturdays
Building a strong team is Néron’s top priority. She aims to create an engaging show focused on uplifting content that helps listeners unwind after work. She remarked, “This is a significant undertaking, and I’m committed to assembling a fantastic team.” Details about the new show will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
Balancing Personal Life
With the new schedule, Néron will have to make adjustments in her personal life. As a single mother, she is concerned about being available for her son, Tom, who is nearly seven years old. “I’ll need help since he’s too young to come home alone. However, I plan to spend quality time with him on weekends and mornings,” she said.
Long-Distance Relationship with Bruno Marchand
Néron has been in a long-distance relationship with Bruno Marchand, the Mayor of Quebec City, for almost a year. She is optimistic about creating more time for their relationship. “Having weekends free means I can easily travel to Quebec City,” she explained, noting the importance of making her relationship a priority.
Health Journey and Future Projects
Néron faced health challenges earlier this year, undergoing a successful uterus operation in March. She shared, “I was grateful for the support of my partner during this time and recovered quickly. This experience opened my eyes to women’s health issues, and I’m considering creating a documentary on the subject.”
She is also collaborating with Paul Arcand on a new six-episode documentary series, set to air in winter 2027 on Télé-Québec. The series will explore rising violence and intolerance among youths, especially boys, and will extend the themes from their previous project on mental health support.
Upcoming Plans and Personal Growth
Néron is preparing for a second season of her interview series, Du front tout le tour de la tête, following the success of its first season. She is enthusiastic about the upcoming guests, including well-known figures like Roxane Bruneau and Martin Matte. She emphasized the joy of developing new friendships as she approaches 40, stating, “I believe strong friendships contribute to a long and healthy life.”
As her birthday approaches on July 19, Néron emphasizes the new beginnings that come with turning 40. With numerous projects in the pipeline, she embraces this new chapter with excitement and optimism. “2026 will be an intense year for me, and I thrive on this adrenaline-filled pace,” she concluded.
