BYD’s Luxury Off-Road Brand Launches First Electric Sedan and Sports Car

Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD, is expanding its range beyond high-end off-road SUVs. At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the brand unveiled its first electric sedan and a striking sports car, signaling a move into the luxury EV market.
BYD’s Luxury Off-Road Brand Expands
As BYD enhances its portfolio of luxury vehicles, Fang Cheng Bao emerges as the fifth sub-brand alongside Denza, Yangwang, Dynasty, and Ocean. This new brand emphasizes personalization and innovation, showcasing a blend of off-road capabilities and sophisticated design.
New Vehicle Unveilings
At the Beijing Auto Show, Fang Cheng Bao revealed several new models. The lineup includes:
- The Formula S series, a group of personalized sedans.
- The Formula X, a thrilling production sports car.
The Formula S redefines the sedan category. It includes three configurations:
- Formula S: A sleek three-box sedan.
- Formula S GT: A versatile shooting brake.
- Formula SL: A larger three-box sedan.
Specifications and Design
All Formula S models exceed five meters in length, two meters in width, with a two-meter wheelbase. The design features what is described as the “golden ratio body.” Its aesthetic draws inspiration from wildlife, specifically the Cheetah, showcasing a low-slung stance and dynamic profile.
Notable design features include:
- “Cheetah Eyes” headlights for a fierce look.
- “Infinity Ring” taillights reminiscent of high-end supercars.
- A full carbon fiber body to enhance performance and reduce weight.
Launch Timeline
The Formula S models are projected to launch in the third quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, the Formula X sports car, which is said to be 80% identical to the prototype, is expected to debut in 2025, marking Fang Cheng Bao’s complete transition into luxurious electric vehicles.
This move by BYD and Fang Cheng Bao signals a new era in electric luxury sedans and sports cars, aiming to capture a robust segment of the automotive market.
