Dillon Thieneman Attends Pittsburgh Draft
Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman is making his mark as the 17th prospect at this year’s draft event in Pittsburgh. His last-minute addition aligns with reports from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, indicating that the Steelers have a strong interest in him.
Thieneman’s Impressive Track Record
Dillon Thieneman is recognized as one of the top safety talents available, trailing only behind Ohio State’s Caleb Downs. In the 2025 season, he showcased his skills with an impressive season record:
- 96 total tackles
- 3.5 tackles for loss
- 1 sack
- 2 interceptions
Thieneman transferred from Purdue, further enhancing his profile ahead of this pivotal draft.
Draft Attendees
Thieneman joins a competitive lineup of 17 prospects in Pittsburgh, which includes five players from Ohio State, notably Caleb Downs. However, it’s important to note that some notable players are absent, including the presumptive No. 1 overall pick, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Mendoza has chosen to forgo the event to celebrate with his family, particularly his mother, Elsa, who is living with Multiple Sclerosis. He is currently in South Florida, prioritizing family over the spotlight of the draft.
This year’s NFL draft continues to captivate fans and scouts alike, as talent evaluations and personal stories unfold against the backdrop of excitement in Pittsburgh.
