Major Fire Erupts at Montréal-Est Vehicle Recycling Center

A significant fire erupted at a vehicle recycling center in Montréal-Est early Thursday morning, covering the area with a strong odor of burnt plastic. The fire started around 5:20 AM at the facility located at 9100 boulevard Henri-Bourassa Est, prompting the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SIM) to respond.

Approximately 50 firefighters and 23 vehicles were deployed to battle the flames. According to SIM spokesperson Annick Vaillancourt, no injuries have been reported. The blaze involved “waste and vehicles” at the commercial site.

As of 7:45 AM, the fire was still not under control. Vaillancourt stated, “We are still intervening; it’s not contained, and it’s not extinguished.” The SIM is also assessing any potential hazards posed by the fire to nearby residents.
