Two Face Charges for Impaired Operation in Quinte West

Quinte West OPP recently reported two instances of impaired driving, leading to charges against two individuals. These incidents highlight the ongoing efforts to enhance road safety.
Impaired Driving Charges in Quinte West
On April 17, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers executed a RIDE program on Riverside Parkway. During this operation, an approved screening device was used, resulting in the arrest of one driver for impaired operation.
First Arrest: Hayden Shorts
Hayden Shorts, a 29-year-old resident of Stirling, was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired due to a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit of 80 mg. He was subsequently taken to the detachment for further testing.
Second Arrest: Scott Snow
The following day, on April 18, 2026, at around 12:30 a.m., a traffic complaint prompted officers to stop a vehicle on 2nd Dug Hill Road in Trenton. This investigation led to the arrest of Scott Snow, a 44-year-old from Kingston. Snow faces charges for failing or refusing to comply with a demand made by police.
Consequences of Impaired Driving
Both individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date. Additionally, their vehicles were impounded for seven days, and both drivers received a 90-day suspension of their licenses.
