Long-Running Streak May Finally End After Weeks

Montréal is on the verge of ending its long-running streak of wet weather. After a week filled with consistent rain, residents may finally experience a dry spell lasting four days or more, a rarity since early March.
Dry Weather Forecast
The week of April 12 to 18 placed significant strain on Quebecers, as rainfall occurred nearly every day. However, the weather outlook has shifted, promising a welcome change.
According to meteorologist Kevin Cloutier, a blocking pattern will form over North America. This pattern will bring warm, dry air to Quebec by week’s end.
Current Atmospheric Conditions
The situation currently does not support the movement of significant weather systems toward Montreal. Cloutier explains, “The configuration won’t favor large weather systems approaching us.”
Watch for Minor Disturbances
While the upcoming week is expected to be much more pleasant, not every day will be completely clear. Minor weather disturbances will pass through the area.
- Expect possible snow showers on Tuesday evening in regions north of Montreal, including the Laurentians and Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
- Southern Quebec may experience brief rain showers.
- Another weak disturbance will affect central and eastern Quebec on Thursday.
Overall, the greater Montreal area is not expected to receive significant precipitation, with the possibility of staying completely dry.
Return of Sunshine
If no rain occurs, it would be the first completely dry stretch since March 2-6. Even with minor precipitation, residents can look forward to more sunshine.
The week is anticipated to conclude with significantly warmer temperatures compared to those observed on earlier days.
This shift in weather will provide much-needed relief after a prolonged period of cloudiness and rain.
