Sooners to Challenge Strong SEC Championship Lineup

Oklahoma’s men’s golf team is gearing up to compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship week at the Seaside Course, located at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia. The Sooners are chasing their 20th conference title and aim for their fourth under head coach Ryan Hybl. The tournament kicks off on Wednesday morning and features 10 top-20 teams among 14 of the nation’s leading 50 programs.

Sooners in Action at SEC Championship

The SEC Championship runs from Wednesday through Friday, showcasing all 16 participating teams in stroke play. After 54 holes, the top eight teams will progress to match play. The quarterfinals and semifinals are set for Saturday, with the championship match scheduled for Sunday. Match play rounds will be broadcast on SEC Network and SECN+.

Oklahoma’s Recent Performance

Oklahoma has established itself as a leading program over the last decade. Since 2015, the Sooners have won 43 tournaments, highlighted by their national championship in 2017. They also have a record of 14 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, earning a top-10 national seed for the past seven seasons. Throughout the 2021-22 season, they topped all SEC programs with 20 stroke-play victories.

Head Coach Ryan Hybl’s Impact

Ryan Hybl, the winningest coach in Oklahoma’s history, has led the team to 50 tournament titles. He is a 2022 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year and a 2024 GCAA Hall of Fame inductee. Under his leadership since 2009, 17 players have received 34 All-America honors.

The SEC Championship returns to Sea Island Golf Club for the 25th time in 2026. The course, known for its tight fairways and coastal winds, is a par-70, 7,005-yard links course. It was originally built in 1929 and redesigned by Tom Fazio in 1999. Seaside Course also hosts the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic.

Admission to the SEC Championship is free. Spectators are encouraged to park along Avenue of the Oaks while being mindful of the players. Live scoring for the event will be available via Scoreboard by Clippd. Fans can watch the championship match on SEC Network live at 7:30 a.m. ET (6:30 a.m. CT) on Sunday, with the semifinals streaming on SEC+ at 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) on Saturday.
