Elections NL Activates Contingency Plan Amid Postal Strike

Elections NL has implemented a comprehensive contingency plan due to a postal strike affecting voting procedures. The agency ensures that residents in Newfoundland and Labrador can participate in the upcoming general election without disruption.
Vote-by-Mail Kits and Delivery Options
The delivery of vote-by-mail kits is currently in progress, utilizing alternative delivery services in light of the postal strike. Voters opting for mail-in ballots are responsible for returning their kits by specific deadlines.
- Kits must be returned to the nearest Elections NL District Returning Office by Thursday, October 9, at 4 p.m. (3:30 p.m. for most of Labrador).
- Voters may also send their kits to Elections NL on Stavanger Drive by Saturday, October 11, at 4 p.m., opting for a pickup arranged through Elections NL.
- Alternatively, ballots can be returned via any delivery service chosen by the voter.
Homebound individuals can get assistance by calling 1-877-729-7987. It is important to note that due to the ongoing postal strike, Voter Information Cards will not be required for participation in the election.
Advance Polling Day
Advance polling is scheduled for tomorrow across the province. Voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the island and 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in most of Labrador.
As Elections NL continues its operations during this challenging time, voters are encouraged to take note of the new guidelines to ensure a smooth voting experience.
