Etihad Unveils $399 In-Cabin Pet Travel Offer

Etihad Airways has launched a new promotional initiative for its Pets Onboard service, offering in-cabin pet travel for $399 per flight segment. This offer is available until May 31, 2026. It gives pet owners a chance to travel with their small cats and dogs, reducing stress for their furry companions.
Details of the Pets Onboard Service
Under the Pets Onboard program, pets are required to travel in an approved carrier. Here are the key details:
- In Economy Class, the carrier may be placed under the seat in front or on an additional booked seat.
- In Business Class, pets are accommodated on a separate seat.
Reasons for the Promotion
This offer comes as demand for pet-friendly travel has increased. Emirates has also responded by establishing a dedicated pet relocation support team to assist with animal bookings in the UAE.
Comments from Etihad Executives
Arik De, the Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, stated that this service is designed to help passengers travel with their pets. “The service allows small cats and dogs to travel in the aircraft cabin alongside their owners, helping reduce stress for pets,” he said.
Context of Pet Travel Promotion
The launch of the in-cabin pet travel offer aligns with Etihad’s broader strategy of enhancing passenger experiences following disruptions in air travel due to the Iran war that began on February 28, 2026. The airline has implemented various measures to support travelers.
- Extended flexible booking policies allow passengers to change their travel dates.
- Reduced loyalty program thresholds help members maintain or upgrade their status.
Growing Passenger Numbers
Etihad Airways recently reported carrying over 2 million passengers in January 2026, marking a 29% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is attributed to the airline’s network expansion and the introduction of new routes.
Flight activity across the Gulf region shows signs of recovery, with airlines operating at more than 50% of pre-conflict schedules, as per Flightradar24 data.
