John Korir, Sharon Lokedi Pursue Consecutive Wins at 2026 Boston Marathon

In the thrilling 2026 Boston Marathon, John Korir successfully clinched his second consecutive victory, reaffirming his dominance in long-distance running. He finished with an unofficial time of 2:01:52, breaking the previous course record by over a minute.

John Korir’s Winning Strategy

During a post-race interview, Korir expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It was in my mind to run the course record. I’ve fulfilled my wishes.” Unlike the previous year, he encountered no issues during the race, allowing him to enjoy the experience much more this time around.

A Strong Lead

Korir maintained a steady lead throughout the race. He approached the finish line approximately 45 seconds ahead of his competitors, showcasing his impressive form. At Mile 23, he had a 33-second advantage, which he managed to increase as the race progressed.

Sharon Lokedi also faced significant competition but ultimately managed to pull ahead. By Mile 23, Lokedi was leading by 12 seconds over her nearest competitor, Loice Chemnung. Her confident stride suggested she was gaining momentum as she approached the finish line.
