April 18 Raid on Ridglan Farms
On April 18, about 400 activists attempted to breach the security of Ridglan Farms, located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. The Dane County Sheriff, Kalvin Barrett, reported that these activists were using ladders and break-in tools to access the property. Organizers claimed the number exceeded 1,000 participants.
Violent Clashes with Law Enforcement
- At 9 a.m., the chaotic scene unfolded as activists pushed against law enforcement.
- A pickup truck was used to ram through the front gate, narrowly missing police and bystanders.
- Many activists reportedly threw smoke and tear gas canisters toward police and security officials.
Despite the upheaval, no beagles were removed from Ridglan Farms by the time the scene calmed down at around 2 p.m. Many activists left, but some remained at the facility’s access road.

A judge recently highlighted severe animal cruelty concerns, with the facility under scrutiny for cutting dogs’ eye glands and vocal cords without anesthesia. In response to these allegations, Ridglan Farms has agreed to surrender its breeding license by July 1, 2026.

Earlier this month, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan raised concerns in Congress about Ridglan Farms’ multiple code violations. He called for an investigation into ongoing federal funding directed to organizations sourcing beagles from the farm.
