Lorry Hits and Kills Driver Fleeing Crash on A1(M)

A tragic incident on a motorway led to the death of a van driver earlier today. The 60-year-old man from Leeds had exited his vehicle after an accident, only to be struck by a lorry shortly thereafter.

Details of the Collision

The incident occurred around 7:16 am on Thursday. The van driver was operating a Toyota Proace City van. He was involved in a collision with a white Renault Captur on Valley Road in Darrington, West Yorkshire.

Witnesses reported that the driver left the scene of the initial crash on foot. Approximately 20 minutes later, around 7:36 am, he was seen walking on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) motorway.

Fatal Accident

Shortly after he was observed walking, tragedy struck when he was struck by a lorry near the Ferrybridge junction. Emergency services arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
