Osmo Pocket 4 Enhances Image Quality with New Sensor and Added Buttons
DJI has officially announced the release of the Osmo Pocket 4, set to debut on April 22, 2023. This new pocket gimbal camera enhances usability and image quality compared to its predecessor. As the successor to the Osmo Pocket 3 released in October 2023, it retains the compact stick design while integrating several notable updates.
Key Features of Osmo Pocket 4
The Osmo Pocket 4 features a new 1-inch CMOS sensor, significantly improving the camera’s dynamic range, now at 14 stops. Additionally, the resolution for still images has increased from 9.4 million pixels to an impressive 37 million pixels. For video recording, high-speed capabilities now allow for 4K at 240fps, enhanced from the previous model’s 4K at 120fps.
Enhanced Functionality with New Controls
This model includes two new physical buttons, improving user experience. The two buttons serve distinct functions:
- Zoom Button: This button enables digital zoom adjustment with each press.
- Custom Button: Users can assign this button for various functions, including locking the gimbal or switching joystick roles for tilt and zoom adjustments.
The power is activated by rotating the two-inch monitor from vertical to horizontal, just like previous models. However, the introduction of new buttons adds versatility that was not present in the Osmo Pocket 3.
Improved Storage and Connectivity
In addition to supporting microSD memory cards, the Osmo Pocket 4 features 107GB of built-in storage. The battery capacity has also been upgraded from 1,300mAh to 1,545mAh. A significant upgrade to the USB port now enables USB 3.1 technology, enhancing data transfer efficiency.
Furthermore, wireless capabilities have been improved with the transition from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6, promising faster and more reliable connectivity.
Upgraded Tracking and Recording Features
The camera utilizes the latest tracking technology, moving from ActiveTrack 6.0 to ActiveTrack 7.0. Log recording has also been enhanced, transitioning from basic D-Log M to a more sophisticated 10-bit D-Log used in the Mavic 3 Pro.
Additional Features and Accessories
New options include a beauty filter that can be applied directly in the device, along with a supplementary light for creators. The Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo package includes an LED light, adjustable to match the gimbal’s angle.
In summary, the Osmo Pocket 4 offers significant improvements in image quality and usability. With its enhanced sensor, added physical buttons, and upgraded connectivity options, it promises to be a powerful tool for content creators.
