Man with Axe Destroys Little Girl’s Beloved Motorhome

A recent axe attack in Newquay has left a father and his daughter devastated, postponing their plans for making cherished memories. Dan Page, a tiler, found extensive damage to his property upon returning home from a dog walk on April 9.
Axe Attack Causes Extensive Damage
Upon his return, Page discovered shattered glass scattered across his property. The assailant caused significant harm to his home, work vehicle, and beloved motorhome. Fortunately, Page, his ten-year-old daughter, and their two dogs were not present during the incident.
The estimated cost of damages is around £25,000. Sadly, Page has learned that his vehicle insurance does not cover the losses incurred to his motorhome, leaving him with a heavy financial burden.
Community Support Initiatives
In light of the incident, Page has created a fundraising campaign to gather money for repairs. He expressed his deep disappointment, saying, “An individual came to my home and carried out an unprovoked attack with an axe.”
- Home windows smashed
- Work van completely destroyed
- Motorhome windows smashed and front lights broken
Page emphasized the importance of the motorhome, stating it was their getaway, a source of bonding time with his daughter. His desire for emotional recovery is evident, as he mentioned, “For me and my daughter to have that time back is just priceless.”
Police Investigation
The Devon and Cornwall Police responded promptly to reports of the axe-wielding man at approximately 1:15 PM on April 9. Officers, including armed units, located the suspect at Cornwall Services later that day.
A 44-year-old man from Newquay has been arrested on multiple charges, including:
- Criminal damage
- Possession of an offensive weapon
- Theft
- Drink-driving
Currently, the suspect has been released on bail as investigations continue.
This incident adds to the challenges Page has faced recently, following a relationship breakdown seven months prior. He now finds himself navigating the aftermath of this vandalism while dealing with the impact on his livelihood.
