Candidates’ Resilience Tested in “24 in 24” Challenge

The recent episode of the culinary competition “24 in 24” tested the resilience of the contestants through a rigorous challenge. With six chefs eliminated in the previous rounds, only twelve remained to face the intense demands of the kitchen.
Challenges Faced by the Chefs
During the third episode, the contestants faced the unique challenge of creating three meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—within a tight timeframe of 60 minutes. They were required to present their dishes every 20 minutes. However, there was a twist: the pantry was off-limits, forcing the chefs to rely solely on a predetermined bag of ingredients.
Strict Judging and High Stakes
Lesley Chesterman served as the guest judge, adding pressure to the already stressed participants. Each was required to showcase their culinary skills despite the mounting fatigue. Many chefs struggled, with one competitor mistakenly switching salt and sugar, leading to less-than-ideal results.
- The chefs presented mainly French toast dishes during breakfast.
- Despite some flaws, the top four were immediately sent to the relaxation area, much to their surprise.
- Hugo Saint-Jacques expressed both relief and disappointment at leaving his smoothly executed chakchouka behind.
Emerging Favorites
Four chefs managed to impress Chesterman enough to secure their advancement in the competition. Brock Story-Alomar’s dumplings and Sébastien Savre’s Asian broth stood out during the lunch presentation. They, along with Guillaume Caron and Markus Bernier, successfully navigated the challenges to remain in the competition.
Ultimate Cooking Pressure
The final round of the day required the remaining contestants to feature pork chops, known for their tricky cooking process. Chesterman raised the stakes by demanding elevated presentation standards. “I want to see something refined on the plate,” she stated.
- Chef Oli, facing elimination for the third time, excelled with his fried pork dish, earning high praise from the judge.
- Patrick Allaire-Daly and Sabrina Adams also advanced, although Adams expressed her disdain for the challenge, describing it as tough.
Elimination Results
Marie-Andrée Plouffe became the thirteenth contestant to be eliminated from the competition. Her failure to achieve a precise pork cook and the inconsistency of her white bean puree led to her downfall. Despite her exit, she expressed satisfaction with her journey through the competition: “I had a lot of fun and exceeded my wildest dreams.”
The challenges and resilience tested throughout this episode demonstrate the intense nature of “24 in 24.” The journey continues as contestants push their culinary limits. Stay tuned for more updates on El-Balad.
