Roosevelt’s Delilah Woods Crowned IE Varsity Player of the Year

Roosevelt High School senior Delilah Woods has been recognized as the IE Varsity Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season. This announcement was made on April 10, 2026, in Eastvale. Woods, a talented 5’2” forward, showcased her impressive ball-handling skills and ability to score, solidifying her position as a key player for the Mustangs.

Outstanding Performance on the Field

Woods played a crucial role in Roosevelt’s soccer journey, contributing significantly to the team’s success in the CIF Southern Section Division 1. She consistently posed a threat to opponents with her speed and tactical play on the wings. Throughout the season, Woods adapted her game, showcasing her versatility as she filled various positions to maximize her impact.

After the early graduation of teammate Ireland Churchill in December, Woods stepped up as a leader. “I knew we all needed to connect as a team, despite losing a crucial player,” Woods explained. Her leadership helped propel the Mustangs to an overall record of 20-5-6, including winning 13 out of their last 15 matches.

Record-Setting Accomplishments

This season, Woods set a school record with 16 assists and scored 14 goals. Her contributions were pivotal in the team’s playoff run. Key moments included scoring in crucial matches and providing assists that enabled her teammates to shine. “Our teamwork and confidence improved as the season progressed,” Woods noted.

Woods’ performance earned her a place in the first-team lineup along with receiving accolades such as the CIFSS D1 Player of the Year. She finishes her high school soccer career with over 75 wins, plus two CIF Southern Section Division 1 titles.

Coach’s Perspective

Andrew Tillehkooh, Roosevelt’s head coach and 2025-26 IE Varsity Girls Soccer Coach of the Year, praised Woods’ efforts and evolution as a player. “She embodied the heart and soul of our team,” he said. Under Tillehkooh’s guidance, Roosevelt allowed only three goals in five playoff matches and secured their second Division 1 title in three years.

PE and Future Aspirations

With her impressive high school career behind her, Woods plans to continue her soccer journey at Boise State. Reflecting on her time at Roosevelt, she stated, “I gained valuable skills and a love for the game that I will carry with me into college.”

As Delilah Woods moves forward, she leaves a legacy at Roosevelt, not only as a player but also as a leader who inspired her teammates throughout the season.
