FA Postpones Meeting to Discuss Final Week’s Events

The Egyptian Football Association has decided to postpone its scheduled meeting, originally set for Wednesday in 6th of October City. This decision was influenced by the desire of Hani Abou Rida, the association’s president, to ensure the presence of all council members and Secretary General Mostafa Azam. No alternative date for the meeting has yet been announced, but it is anticipated that Friday will be the new date.
Meeting Focused on Recent Events and World Cup Preparations
The upcoming meeting aims to discuss the preparation plans for the national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Additionally, it will address several pressing matters that occurred in the football scene over the past week.
World Cup Group Details
The Egyptian team is grouped alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand in the World Cup. The association also plans to review a complaint submitted by Al Ahly SC related to their recent match against Ceramica Cleopatra.
- Match Result: Al Ahly 1 – 1 Ceramica Cleopatra
- Al Ahly’s complaint centers around a disputed penalty decision in the final minutes of the match.
Upcoming Discussions and Urgent Meetings
The association’s meeting will also cover matters related to the appeals committees and officiating. Al Ahly has called for an urgent meeting on the same day to respond to the football association regarding three different issues.
A delegation from Al Ahly, led by Sid Abdel Hafiz, left the association’s headquarters without a scheduled hearing for referee discussions regarding their match. They sought to listen to video assistant referee communications but were unable to do so due to the absence of authorized personnel in the technical area during the match.
Request for Transparency
Al Ahly requested to hear the communication between the match official and the VAR during the review of the contentious penalty. This request is supported by statements from Oscar Ruiz, head of the referee committee, emphasizing each club’s right to access such information in exchange for a fee.
Official Analysis Shared
The Egyptian Football Association’s official account published an analysis by Oscar Ruiz, citing a similar incident from the women’s match between France and Colombia at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
