Midfielder Davies Departs Sheffield United

Sheffield United has confirmed that midfielder Tom Davies will depart the club at the end of the season. The 27-year-old joined the Blades in August 2023 as a free agent, having declined a new contract with Everton earlier that summer.
Midfielder Tom Davies’ Career Overview
Davies, a former England Under-21 international, has faced significant injury challenges during his tenure at Sheffield United. He managed only 11 league starts for the Championship side. The club expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him future success.
Previous Club and Young Achievements
- Debuted for Everton at 17 in May 2017.
- Established himself as the youngest captain in Everton’s history at 20.
- Captaincy occurred during an EFL Cup match against Rotherham.
After the 2022-2023 season, Davies chose to leave Everton, where he made just six Premier League starts in his last two years. When he signed a three-year deal at Bramall Lane, he mentioned joining a club with a promising project.
Challenges at Sheffield United
However, the manager who brought him to Sheffield United, Paul Heckingbottom, was dismissed in November. Consequently, Davies only appeared in nine matches as the Blades finished last in the Premier League.
Missing the first three months of the previous season, he played 16 times in total across all competitions. In November, the club sent him to Germany for treatment for a persistent calf issue. His last start was on January 31 against Millwall, where he was substituted after just 48 minutes.
