Hydraulic Fluid Spill Halts Line 2 Service Again
On Friday morning, another hydraulic fluid spill disrupted subway service on Line 2, affecting a significant stretch of the route. This incident follows a similar event just days prior.
Details of the Incident
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) reported that the spill occurred around 3 a.m. Service is currently interrupted between Ossington and Woodbine stations. To mitigate the inconvenience, shuttle buses are operating to assist affected passengers.
Recurring Issues
This marks the second occurrence of a hydraulic fluid spill this week that has halted service on the Bloor-Danforth Line. A previous spill at Old Mill Station on Tuesday resulted in a lengthy shutdown between Kipling and Jane stations.
TTC’s Response
TTC CEO Mandeep Lali expressed regret over these repeated disruptions. He emphasized the importance of reliable service for passengers relying on the subway for commuting to work, school, and other essential activities.
- Incident Timing: Occurred at approximately 3 a.m.
- Affected Service: No service between Ossington and Woodbine stations.
- Shuttle Buses: Operating to provide alternative transportation.
- Previous Incident: Spill at Old Mill Station caused closure on Tuesday.
Lali acknowledged the frustration these incidents cause, especially during peak commuting hours. The TTC has yet to provide a timeline for when regular service will resume on Line 2.
