Sophia Thomalla Explains Alexander Zverev’s Absence from Monte Carlo Masters

Alexander Zverev, the German tennis star, recently rose to the No. 3 spot in the ATP rankings following his advancement to the semifinals of the Miami Open. However, he faced a tough match against Jannik Sinner, who defeated him for the seventh consecutive time, preventing Zverev from securing the Miami Open title.

The Monte Carlo Masters, taking place in April 2026, presents Zverev with another opportunity to challenge Sinner. He has struggled recently, barely overcoming Cristian Garín in the Round of 32 on April 8. Zverev lost the first set 6-4 but fought back to win the next two sets 6-4 and 7-5, ensuring his placement in the Round of 16.

Sophia Thomalla’s Absence from Monte Carlo Masters Explained

Sophia Thomalla, Zverev’s girlfriend since 2020, is usually seen at many of his tournaments. However, she did not attend the Monte Carlo Masters this year. Instead, she is busy hosting a show titled “Are You The One?” which is currently being filmed in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Thomalla made it clear through an Instagram post that her commitments prevented her from joining Zverev in Monte Carlo. She shared, “I got to visit Sybille My Hairy Disabled Friends on Koh Samui today 🥹😭. There she takes care of the dogs that are often overlooked with an incredible amount of love, patience, and devotion.” This indicates that she is actively involved in her work at the show rather than just promoting a past event.

Despite her absence, it’s likely that Thomalla is supporting Zverev from afar. She may have watched his recent comeback against Garín, cheering for him during the match.
