Janette Bertrand Cancels Québec Book Fair Visit Due to Illness

Janette Bertrand, a renowned figure in literature, has canceled her participation in the Québec International Book Fair due to health issues. The event is set to commence on Wednesday.

Health Concerns Lead to Cancellation

At 101 years old, Bertrand is the oldest participant of the fair and was scheduled to appear on Saturday and Sunday at the Centre des congrès. She is reportedly suffering from a lung condition, though her health is improving.

Mélanie Pelletier, the general director of the Québec International Book Fair, expressed her disappointment over Bertrand’s cancellation. “We learned today that Ms. Bertrand is unwell and sincerely regrets not being able to meet her fans this year. We wish her a swift recovery,” Pelletier stated.

Changes in Schedule

Bertrand was expected to host a signing session and participate in a discussion with fellow author Adrien Rannaud. This discussion was centered on Rannaud’s book, “Reines des ondes, reines des cœurs,” which covers the Miss Radio-Télévision election in Québec from 1939 to 1972.
