Canada’s Wonderland Revamps Two Iconic Coasters This Year

Canada’s Wonderland is making significant upgrades to two of its iconic roller coasters for the 2023 season. The park, located in Vaughan, Ontario, will reopen on May 3, promising an exciting year ahead for thrill-seekers and families alike.

Mighty Canadian Minebuster Gets a Revamp

The Mighty Canadian Minebuster, one of the park’s original rides, is celebrating its 45th anniversary. Known for its rough ride, this coaster is undergoing a major renovation. A 980-foot section of the roller coaster will be retracked with new wood, enhancing the overall experience for riders. This upgrade follows last year’s successful improvements, which received positive feedback from visitors.

  • Original opening year: 1981
  • Renovation length: 980 feet
  • Years known for rough experience: 45 years

Parkgoers have expressed their appreciation for the changes, with many looking forward to a smoother ride that alleviates the discomfort previously associated with this attraction.

Flight Deck Transforms into The DareDeviler

Originally opened as Top Gun in 1995, the Flight Deck coaster is also undergoing a transformation. This year, it will be rebranded as The DareDeviler, with an emphasis on early aviation themes. Enhancements will include track refinements and new open, vest-style restraints, aimed at providing a more enjoyable and immersive ride experience.

  • Original name: Top Gun
  • New name: The DareDeviler
  • Opening year: 1995
  • Reopening: Early summer 2023

Despite the excitement, guests will have to wait to experience this newly themed coaster as it will remain closed for the park’s opening day. Heather Hill, the park manager, stated that these upgrades would elevate the thrill experience for customers.

Additional Park Enhancements

Alongside the coaster renovations, Canada’s Wonderland is introducing a fresh lineup of food options and attractions this year. These updates promise to enhance the overall visitor experience within the park.

With these significant changes, both attractions aim to provide guests with improved comfort and excitement as Canada’s Wonderland looks forward to an exciting season. Thrill-seekers can anticipate a much-anticipated smoother ride this year.
