US and Israel Escalate Attacks: 34 Dead in Iran University Bombing

The recent escalation between the United States and Iran has led to significant casualties and destruction. At least 34 individuals have died in a series of attacks across Iran, including six children. The violence was sparked by escalating tensions following U.S. President Donald Trump’s demands regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Attack Details and Impact

On Monday, an airstrike in Baharestan County led to the deaths of 23 people, including four girls and two boys under the age of 10. The strikes targeted various locations throughout Iran, including major cities like:

  • Tehran
  • Qom
  • Bandar-e Lengeh
  • Bandar Abbas
  • Ahvaz
  • Mahshahr
  • Shiraz
  • Isfahan
  • Karaj

In Qom, five individuals lost their lives when an airstrike hit a residential building. Southern Iran’s Bandar-e Lengeh also saw six fatalities due to similar attacks. Notably, Sharif University in Tehran, a prestigious institution comparable to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, sustained extensive damage. The facility’s mosque and laboratories were severely impacted.

Continuing Violence and Retaliation Threats

The clashes followed Trump’s threatening remarks about reopening the Strait of Hormuz, an essential route for global oil transport, or facing severe consequences. Iran has warned that it will reciprocate any attacks targeting its infrastructure. Officials have condemned Trump’s statements as inflammatory and indicative of a “criminal mindset.”

International Implications

Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, noted that any miscalculation could disrupt global energy supplies and international trade. The ongoing conflict also affected Israel, which experienced multiple missile attacks from Iran. Reports indicate that several buildings were hit, resulting in casualties and significant injuries in cities like Tel Aviv and Petah Tikva.

As tensions continue to heighten, both nations are bracing for potential further confrontations. The situation remains critical, with the threat of a broader conflict looming over the Middle East.
