Toronto Easter Parade: Road Closures Implemented for 60th Annual Celebration

Toronto is gearing up for the 60th annual Beaches Lions Club Easter Parade this Sunday. To facilitate the celebration, various road closures will affect traffic in the city’s east end.

Key Details of the Toronto Easter Parade

The parade commences at 2 p.m. starting from Queen Street East at Munroe Park Avenue. The procession proceeds towards Woodbine Avenue, continuing along Lake Shore Boulevard East to Coxwell Avenue. The entire event is expected to last approximately two hours.

Road Closures Schedule

To ensure safety and smooth operations during the parade, several roads will experience closures:

  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Partial closure of Queen Street East from Munroe Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road.
  • 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Full closure of Queen Street East from Munroe Park Avenue to Fallingbrook Road; Nursewood Road will also be closed from Queen Street East to 24 Nursewood Road.
  • 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Queen Street East will be fully closed from Woodbine Avenue to Fallingbrook Road.
  • 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Full closures on Woodbine Avenue from Queen Street East to Lake Shore Boulevard East, and on Lake Shore Boulevard East from Coxwell to Woodbine avenues.

Public Transportation Adjustments

In light of the road closures, several public transit lines will be temporarily rerouted. Key services affected include:

  • 92 Woodbine South bus
  • 64 Main bus
  • 501 Queen streetcar

Commuters are advised to check the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) website for updated information regarding stopped services during the parade.

Weather Forecast

This year’s Easter Parade will proceed regardless of weather conditions. Environment Canada predicts a high of 7°C with mainly cloudy skies and a 60% chance of rain. Participants and spectators should prepare accordingly.

Driving and transit users are encouraged to plan their routes ahead of time as the parade day approaches.
