Easter Weekend: What’s Open and Closed in Waterloo Region

The Easter weekend in Waterloo Region is a time of family fun, but it also brings changes to service schedules and facility closures. Residents should be aware of what is open and closed during this period.
Service Changes for Easter Weekend
All regional administrative offices will close on Good Friday and Easter Monday. This includes various community centers and museums that will hold special Easter-themed events throughout the weekend.
Waste Collection Schedule
- Waste collection will proceed as usual on Friday.
- Residents are advised to have their garbage out by 7 a.m. for collection.
- Residential drop-off services at waste management sites in Cambridge and Waterloo will be unavailable on Friday and Monday.
Grand River Transit Schedule
Grand River Transit will operate on a reduced holiday schedule on Friday. However, Monday services will follow the regular route and timings.

In Kitchener, several community facilities will be closed on Friday, including:

If you’re traveling to or from the Region of Waterloo airport, note that airport administrative offices will not be open. However, airport operations will continue uninterrupted.
