Smith Named England’s New Spin-Bowling Coach

England has appointed Tom Smith as their new spin-bowling coach for the upcoming summer season. The former Gloucestershire player brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Tom Smith Joins Coaching Staff
Smith, a left-arm spinner, will be part of Charlotte Edwards’ coaching team. He will oversee a summer packed with significant events, including the home Women’s T20 World Cup and series against New Zealand, India, and Ireland.

The England women’s team boasts several talented left-arm spin bowlers, including:
- Sophie Ecclestone
- Linsey Smith
- Tilly Corteen-Coleman
- Charis Pavely
In addition to these players, Smith will also collaborate with spin-bowling all-rounders such as Charlie Dean, Alice Capsey, and Sarah Glenn.
Coaching Background
With a professional playing career spanning nearly 20 years, Smith is well-respected in the sport. After his playing days at Gloucestershire, he transitioned into coaching within the same county and also worked with Birmingham Phoenix women’s team.
