Prince’s Sweet Gesture to Kristin Scott Thomas After Movie Flop

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas has shared delightful memories of her interactions with the iconic musician Prince during an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show. Known for her remarkable performances in films like *Four Weddings and a Funeral* and *Tomb Raider*, Scott Thomas reflected on her unique experience working with Prince while filming *Under the Cherry Moon*.
Kristin Scott Thomas and Prince’s Collaboration
The actress revealed how she landed the lead role in *Under the Cherry Moon*, which was directed by Prince. She received a call from a casting agent after performing in a play in Burgundy, France. Initially, the film sought local actresses for bit parts. During an audition, Scott Thomas was unexpectedly offered the lead role.
“You just can’t believe that question when that happens,” she recalled. Although the film eventually flopped, Scott Thomas described the experience as incredible. She noted that Prince took over the direction midway through production.
A Special Gesture from Prince
Years later, after the film’s poor reception, Scott Thomas was surprised to learn that Prince had been watching her on morning television from his hotel room. He later invited her to dinner, which she cherished. “The thing I liked most about that… is Prince, the king of cool, watching morning television,” she reflected.
In a further show of support, Prince rented an entire row at one of her theater productions and even wrote a song inspired by her. Scott Thomas described the experience, saying, “I’ve written a song for you. It’s lovely and it makes my heart swell.”
Reflections on Career and Personal Life
Throughout her extensive career, Scott Thomas has enjoyed several successes. She shared her foresight regarding *Four Weddings and a Funeral*, stating she knew it would be a hit. Now, in addition to acting, she has ventured into directing and co-writing, which she labeled “new territory.”
Her upcoming project reflects her life experiences. “I decided to make a film because I was getting a little bit bored with the fact that every time I read a profile piece on me, there was always a paragraph about my tragic childhood,” she explained. The loss of both her father and stepfather, who were navy pilots, deeply influenced her and inspired her creative endeavors.
