CF Montréal Secures Frankie Amaya in Deal with Toluca

CF Montréal has confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Frankie Amaya on loan from Deportivo Toluca, a prominent club in Liga MX. This announcement was made on Thursday. Amaya, a 25-year-old former US youth international, will be with Montréal until the conclusion of the 2026 season.

Luca Saputo, the senior director of recruitment and sporting methodology at Montréal, expressed enthusiasm about the signing. He highlighted Amaya’s technical skills and experience on the field. Saputo stated that Amaya’s ability to retain possession and connect defense with offense will significantly enhance the team’s performance.

This transfer marks Amaya’s fourth club in Major League Soccer (MLS). His previous teams include FC Cincinnati, New York Red Bulls, and LAFC. Amaya was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
