Toronto’s 2026 Easter Long Weekend: What’s Open and Closed

As the Easter long weekend approaches in 2026, many residents and visitors in Toronto are curious about what will be open and closed during this holiday period. The city offers a mix of closed establishments and activities throughout the weekend.

What’s Open in Toronto for Easter 2026

Tourist Attractions

Major tourist attractions will welcome guests during the Easter long weekend. The following will be open:

  • CN Tower
  • Ripley’s Aquarium
  • Royal Ontario Museum
  • The Art Gallery of Ontario
  • Toronto Zoo
  • Casa Loma
  • Hockey Hall of Fame
  • Little Canada

Shopping Centres

While most malls will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, a few will operate on reduced hours:

  • Eaton Centre
  • Pacific Mall

Regular hours will resume on Monday, April 6, 2026, for most shopping centres including:

  • Yorkdale
  • Square One
  • Vaughan Mills
  • Scarborough Town Centre

Grocery Stores

Alcohol Retailers

Public Transportation

Transit services will adjust their schedules:

  • GO Transit will run under a Saturday schedule on Good Friday.
  • TTC will also operate on a holiday schedule on Good Friday.
  • Normal services will resume on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for both transit systems.

Government Offices and Libraries

Government services will largely be unavailable during the weekend:

  • The Toronto Public Library will close all branches on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday.
  • Major banks will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
  • Government offices, including Service Canada and ServiceOntario, will remain closed throughout the weekend.
  • Toronto City Hall and civic centres will not be accessible on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
