Concerns from Neighbors
Council’s Response to Parking Issues
A Salford council report addressed these concerns, estimating that the project would introduce just two additional vehicles to the area. The Highway Officer concluded that this minor increase in traffic would not significantly affect local road conditions.
Review of Existing Licences
The two properties already possess licenses allowing accommodation for six people each. This expansion aims to enhance capacity while keeping the standards of living high.
Council Members’ Comments
Council members welcomed the new project. Coun Mike McCusker cited minimal impact from additional residents, emphasizing the quality of room sizes within the existing HMO framework. Coun Phil Cusack highlighted the advantages of each room’s en-suite facilities. Meanwhile, Coun James Prady expressed a desire to physically assess the living conditions once development completes.
Housing Demand in Salford
Salford is experiencing significant housing challenges. Currently, over 5,000 individuals are registered for social housing assistance, indicating a growing crisis as homelessness rates within the city escalate.
The approval of this new house share reflects ongoing efforts to address diverse housing solutions amid these challenges.
