Mikel Shares Updates on Hincapie, Madueke, and Eze at Press Conference

Mikel Arteta has addressed the media regarding the injury status of several key players ahead of the FA Cup quarter-finals. The team is preparing to face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.

Mikel Updates on Player Injuries: Madueke, Eze, and Hincapie

The latest updates revealed that Noni Madueke’s injury is not as severe as initially thought. Arteta confirmed this during a press briefing at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.

Madueke’s Recovery

“It looked really bad, and Noni was really worried, especially after his previous knee injury,” Arteta explained. “However, he’s nowhere near that level of injury, which is great news.” It is expected that Madueke will return to action within days.

Eze and Hincapie Injuries

In contrast, Eberechi Eze’s situation remains uncertain. Arteta stated, “I cannot put a finger on a timeframe for Ebz because he’s a special character.” The manager was less optimistic regarding Piero Hincapie, who sustained an injury while playing for Ecuador. Arteta admitted that Hincapie’s injury could be more serious, but the full extent is still unknown.

Positive News for the Squad

On a more encouraging note, Martin Ødegaard and Jurrien Timber could be available for selection this Sunday. Arteta noted that “those are in contention to possibly be in the squad,” indicating a possible return after missing the Carabao Cup final.

Communication with National Team Managers

Arteta also discussed his interactions with national team managers regarding player fitness. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships and transparent communication. “We are always very honest about the state of our players,” he stated. “Ultimately, it’s a medical decision that needs to be made.”

As the team continues its preparations, fans will be eager to see how the lineup shapes up against Southampton this weekend in the FA Cup.
