Stirling Places Maybury on Gardening Leave

Stirling Albion has made the decision to place manager Alan Maybury on gardening leave. This move comes as the club opted not to renew his contract beyond the current season.

Current Standing in Scottish League 2

The Binos are currently in eighth place, which is third from the bottom in Scottish League 2. They recently secured a crucial victory against Edinburgh City, winning 1-0. This win marked the end of a five-match winless streak.

Safe from Relegation

Stirling Albion is 14 points clear of relegation, meaning they are almost safe from the drop. However, it’s worth noting that they would be at the bottom of the table if not for points deductions faced by both Edinburgh City and Dumbarton.

Club Statement on Maybury’s Departure

In a statement, Stirling chairman Fraser McIntyre addressed the decision: “Alan joined us in a difficult period following our relegation from League 1. While these decisions are never easy, we believe this is the right step for the club at this time.”

Interim Management Team

Following Maybury’s departure, Tony McMinn has been appointed to lead the interim management team. McMinn, 47, has been Maybury’s assistant since he took charge in the summer of 2024.

Background on Alan Maybury

Alan Maybury, a former full-back for Republic of Ireland, has had a varied managerial career. His previous roles include managing teams such as Edinburgh City and coaching at clubs like Leeds United, Heart of Midlothian, Leicester City, St Johnstone, Hibernian, and Falkirk.
