Vic Rauter, the iconic TSN curling commentator, has announced his retirement after an impressive career spanning over 53 years. The announcement, made by TSN, marks the end of an era for Canadian sports broadcasting.
Career Highlights of Vic Rauter
Rauter’s career began in February 1973 as a news and sports reporter at CFTR Radio. His journey led him to significant roles at major networks, including Global Television Network and CBC.
In 1985, Rauter joined TSN, becoming the voice of curling for over 40 years. He covered every edition of the Canadian men’s and women’s curling championships since 1986, with the exception of 2006 when CBC held the rights. His famous phrase, “Make the final…” became synonymous with his broadcasting style, delighting curling fans across the country.
