Puka Nacua Refutes Antisemitic Claim, Labels Biting Incident as ‘Horseplay’

Puka Nacua, the wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, has responded to accusations made against him regarding antisemitic comments. The claims arose from a recent application for a temporary restraining order filed by Madison Atiabi, who alleges that Nacua made offensive remarks during a New Year’s Eve dinner.
Puka Nacua Addresses Allegations
According to Atiabi’s filing, Nacua is accused of making a disparaging remark about Jewish individuals that was audible to others at the dinner table. The document further claims that his behavior escalated, leading to what Atiabi described as “vulgar, threatening, violent, and harassing conduct.”
Incident Details
- During the evening, Atiabi alleges that Nacua bit her on the left shoulder, leaving a visible mark.
- It’s also claimed that he bit the thumb of a friend of Atiabi’s, which caused her to scream in pain.
Nacua’s attorney, Levi McCathern, has asserted that several witnesses—including fellow Rams players—did not hear any antisemitic comments from Nacua. He characterized the biting incidents as “innocent horseplay.”
Legal Proceedings and Statements
McCathern firmly denied these allegations, stating, “Puka denies these allegations in the strongest possible terms.” He emphasized that they intend to take legal action regarding what he described as false and damaging claims. A Los Angeles Superior Court judicial officer denied the request for a temporary restraining order. A hearing is set for April 14.
Blackmail Allegation
McCathern mentioned that their office received communications demanding millions of dollars in exchange for not publicizing the allegations. He called this attempt “blackmail” and insisted that the claims are not legitimate.
Previous Controversy Involving Nacua
This isn’t the first controversy surrounding Nacua. In December, he publicly apologized for a gesture he made during a livestream with Adin Ross. The discussion involved a performance that referenced antisemitic stereotypes. Nacua later stated he was unaware that his actions were offensive and expressed regret for any offense caused.
The Rams issued a statement distancing themselves from Nacua’s previous gesture. They reaffirmed their stance against antisemitism and any form of prejudice towards people of any religion, ethnicity, or race.
As the situation unfolds, the focus remains on the resolution of these serious allegations against Puka Nacua.
