Medicine Hat’s U16 SEAVC Volleyball Team Secures Bright Future with National Wins

The U16 SEAVC Volleyball Team from Medicine Hat achieved remarkable success recently, establishing a bright future for young athletes. Competing in a national championship tournament in Edmonton, the team not only showcased their skills but also highlighted the strong sense of community among the players.

Significant Achievements at the National Championships

Approximately 300 teams participated in the tournament, which provided a platform for showcasing talent from across Canada. One of the team’s standout players, Chloe Kube, earned the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP). Kube expressed surprise and excitement at receiving this honor, especially after admiring the previous year’s MVP.

“It’s surreal to be recognized for my efforts,” Kube remarked. Her remarkable performance has already led her to a commitment to Team Buffalo in New York, where she will receive a full-ride scholarship to play NCAA Division One volleyball. She emphasized the significance of her achievement, noting that it reflects her years of hard work and dedication.

Team Contributions and Community Impact

The SEAVC team not only excelled in their personal achievements but also made substantial contributions to the sport in Medicine Hat. “Our victory is a source of inspiration for young athletes in our town,” Kube stated, reflecting on the team’s influence on aspiring volleyball players.

Representation at the All-Canadian Volleyball Games

  • Five SEAVC players represented Alberta at the All-Canadian Volleyball Games.
  • Players included Georgia Potter, Anna Hodgkinson, Cameron Carlson, Paisley Retzler, and Chloe Kube.
  • Team Alberta Black, which included four SEAVC players, won the national championship.

Acknowledging Coaching Excellence

The team’s success can also be attributed to the leadership of Lori Kube, the SEAVC coach. She was awarded the Performance Coach for Ladies of the Year, an honor she did not foresee. Lori expressed deep pride in her team’s hard work and commitment to excellence.

“The girls deserve all the credit for their accomplishments. I am here to guide them and foster their development,” she stated. Looking ahead, Lori will continue as head coach for the SEAVC U17 gold team in the upcoming season, continuing her investment in the future of volleyball in Medicine Hat.
