ARISS Hosts Local Contact with ISS on April 8th

The local community will engage with the ISS on Wednesday, April 8th, at 9 AM. This event will take place on the campus of Emporia State University (ESU).

Student Participation and Questions

Local students have the opportunity to submit questions for the astronauts. A total of 28 questions have been approved and will be posed during the event. This unique interaction aims to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts.

Background of the Event

ESU was designated as a participant in the ARISS initiative last November. This event is one of five educational contacts planned, with ESU being one of only two in the United States. The other U.S. contact will occur at Walnut Grove Elementary School in Suwanee, Georgia, on Thursday.

International Connections

In addition to the U.S. events, international contacts are also on the schedule. An event in Italy will take place on Wednesday, April 1, while two contacts are slated for France on April 9.

Further Discussion

Local program administrators will be featured on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia. Tune in on Tuesday at 11:06 AM for a deeper discussion about the event.

This collaboration between ARISS and local educational institutions showcases the global reach of space exploration and its impact on education.
