Lizzo Shares Virginity Story Post-2020 Grammy Triumph

Lizzo recently opened up about her personal journey regarding her virginity, revealing that she lost it after winning three Grammy Awards in 2020. This revelation came during her appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco.
Lizzo’s Grammy Achievement and Personal Pact
At 37 years old, Lizzo shared that she had made a pact with herself to remain a virgin until she achieved Grammy success. “I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time,” she confessed. Winning her first Grammy was a pivotal moment, as she stated, “For me, I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”
The Night of Change
While Lizzo clarified that she lost her virginity soon after her Grammy wins, she emphasized that it wasn’t on the night of the awards. “I didn’t even know that it was in my cards,” she said. Her Grammy wins included:
- Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”
- Best Urban Contemporary Album for the deluxe version of “Cuz I Love You”
- Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jerome”
Admitting to Past Lies
Lizzo admitted to fabricating stories about her sexual experience to her friends, notably during her college years. Recalling a moment with her group of friends, she said, “I was like, ‘No! I love the D.’ I was so embarrassed. And it held me over for a little while.”
The First Kiss Experience
Her journey also included waiting until she was 21 for her first kiss, which she attributed to both personal choice and religious beliefs. She recounted, “When we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn’t do anything before marriage.” Unfortunately, her first kissing experience was disappointing. It happened on New Year’s Eve, and she expressed frustration, stating, “I was really mad, and I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined.’”
Current Projects
Lizzo’s latest album, “Love in Real Life,” was released last year. After taking a self-described “gap year” in 2024, she is preparing to return to the music scene.
