Tyson Fury Addresses Claims of a ‘Destroyed’ Relationship with Father

Tyson Fury has publicly addressed the ongoing conflict between his father, John Fury, and ex-world champion Carl Froch. This marks the first occasion Fury has commented on the situation since John described their relationship as ‘destroyed’ by boxing.
Tyson Fury Dismisses Drama as Publicity Stunt
Speaking to OOOSCH TV, ahead of his comeback fight on April 11 against Arslan Makhmudov, Fury labeled the feud a mere publicity stunt. He stated, “To be honest with you, it’s all for views and clicks.” Fury implied that the controversy garnered significant attention, particularly from Saudi audiences.
He recognized his father’s knack for making headlines, referring to John as someone who is “gold at it” when it comes to hype generation. The feud escalated during a press conference for Tyson’s upcoming fight, where John Fury unleashed a series of insults towards Froch.
Confrontation at Press Conference
During the press event, John Fury shouted obscenities at Froch, including the phrase “run like a f*ing b*h.” This confrontation was sparked by Froch’s previous videos criticizing John. In response, Froch accepted the challenge to fight on Tyson’s undercard, suggesting it was his opportunity to silence John.
Negotiation Stalemate
Froch revealed that talks were underway with broadcasters for a fight, but negotiations hit a snag. He claimed John Fury’s insistence on including Tommy Fury in the match card was a significant obstacle. “He’s basically put a blockade in there with his son, Tommy,” Froch expressed on his YouTube channel. “Which is ridiculous because, let’s be honest, no-one gives a st about Tommy fighting. Who cares?”
Fury Weighs in on the Situation
Despite the public exchanges, no formal arrangement has been made for the proposed bout. Fury criticized both John and Carl Froch’s actions, questioning the rationale behind the fight. He remarked, “Do you think I’m going to let my dad fight Carl Froch? How’s he going to fight a 60-year-old man?”
Tyson Fury challenged the motives of Froch, suggesting he was trying to gain fame off his father’s name. He concluded by urging both men to act with more professionalism and common sense regarding the ongoing feud.
